Job Overview

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior GitLab Engineer to join their DevOps team and lead major modernization and automation initiatives. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on expertise with GitLab CI/CD, strong experience transforming legacy toolsets, and the ability to design secure, scalable, and automated delivery pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the migration from legacy DevOps tools to GitLab and Podman.

Design, build, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for large-scale distributed systems.

Implement Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and configuration automation with Ansible.

Develop automation scripts using Bash, Python, or Go to streamline development and deployment workflows.

Drive security best practices across the SDLC, including secure pipeline design and compliance automation.

Collaborate with DevOps, Cloud, and Development teams to modernize infrastructure and tooling.

Troubleshoot CI/CD, GitLab runner, container, and orchestration issues.

Support continuous improvement of DevOps maturity and tooling across the organization.

Required Skills & Experience

7+ years of DevOps/Platform Engineering experience.

Expert-level proficiency in GitLab CI/CD (pipelines, runners, GitLab administration).

Strong experience with Podman or containerization technologies.

Hands-on expertise with Terraform, Ansible, and automation scripting (Bash/Python/Go).

Deep understanding of DevOps principles, secure SDLC, and cloud-native delivery practices.

Experience modernizing or migrating from legacy systems to GitLab or similar tools.

Strong ability to troubleshoot pipeline, container, and infrastructure automation issues.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-Have

Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, or cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).

Experience implementing GitOps practices.

Background in enterprise-scale modernization initiatives.
