About Our Client
Our client is a leading manufacturer of various output alternators and power management solutions for automotive, industrial, and military applications. Located in the near northern suburbs of Chicago, they have seen steady business growth and are looking to bolster their test engineering laboratory for customer satisfaction.
Job Description
Conduct testing on advanced automotive electrical system components.
Create detailed test plans and comprehensive test reports.
Keep precise and organized records of all test activities and results.
Develop and execute tests and experiments aligned with industry standards.
Safely operate rotating and high-power testing equipment.
Design and build specialized test fixtures and equipment.
Work closely with Design Engineering, Quality Assurance, and customers.
Apply knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) and Accelerated Life Testing (HALT).
Plan and carry out formal qualification and first-article functional testing.
Improve and innovate processes to expand testing capabilities and capacity.
Coordinate with third-party laboratories for specialized testing beyond in-house capabilities.

The Successful Applicant
ITAR Compliance Required
Software/IT Testing NOT APPLICABLE
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree
5+ years of experience in product testing, ideally in an automotive setting
Experience with DAQ (Data Acquisition), specific experience with LabView strongly preferred
Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
Experience with military and automotive performance and testing standards preferred
Experience with Script Programming a plus
Experience with simulation tools such as PSpice, Matlab or Simulink preferred
