Key criteria needed in an Okta Architect to support the our customer Okta OIE tenant upgrade.

1. Okta CIAM & Identity Engine Expertise

Demonstrated ability to design and optimize authentication and authorization workflows with an emphasis on frictionless end-user experience.

Experience supporting large-scale B2C environments with millions of active customers.

Hands-on experience with Okta Identity Engine (OIE), including upgrade planning and execution.

Documented background in modernizing legacy authentication methods and migrating to modern identity standards.

2. Authentication Standards & Access Architecture

Deep understanding of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, PKCE, and token lifecycle management.

Experience integrating authentication flows across iOS, Android, and web applications using Okta SDKs.

Ability to design and govern custom scopes, claims, and authorization servers.

Experience with designing modern MFA models, including passkeys, biometrics, and other low-friction authentication strategies.

Knowledge of adaptive and risk-based authentication approaches.

3. Integration Engineering & High-Scale Systems

Strong experience integrating mobile SDKs and custom authentication flows across distributed web and mobile environments.

Ability to design and support high-volume transactional identity flows and token exchange patterns.

Understanding of distributed identity and federation models, including inbound and outbound identity integrations.

4. Security, Compliance, and Risk Management

Knowledge of best practices for token security, API security, and mobile application security.

Familiarity with U.S. regulatory considerations related to consumer identity and data protection.

Experience implementing secure, compliant onboarding flows, including interactions with distributed identity stores.

5. Identity Lifecycle & Workflow Automation

Experience designing onboarding and lifecycle processes within a CIAM environment.

Ability to leverage Okta Workflows to support user lifecycle automation, policy enforcement, and data orchestration across B2C ecosystems.
