Job Description

The Production Operator / Field Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance of wells, compression systems, and associated production equipment. This role ensures operational reliability by applying established procedures, identifying performance issues, and supporting maintenance and well intervention activities. The position requires a strong focus on safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous equipment surveillance to optimize production and minimize downtime.

Responsibilities

Operate wells, compression equipment, and production facilities in accordance with established procedures and daily operational plans

Maintain a high standard of safety, health, environmental, and security practices in all activities

Participate in daily toolbox talks and safety meetings

Monitor wells and equipment to identify performance issues and implement corrective or optimization actions

Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance activities as part of equipment care responsibilities

Monitor alarms and emergency shutdown systems; report any issues or system impairments immediately

Maintain accurate and detailed shift logs, including operational events, abnormalities, and production changes

Conduct shift handovers with clear communication to ensure continuity of operations

Coordinate and monitor maintenance activities in line with preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance plans

Collect product samples and perform field-level laboratory testing as required

Participate in emergency response activities and incident reporting procedures

Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding operational conditions and required actions

Diagnose well performance issues and provide accurate data prior to initiating well intervention operations

Ensure wellhead and surface equipment are properly maintained and operational prior to intervention work

Support ongoing wellwork and intervention activities as needed

Promote continuous improvement in operational efficiency and reliability

Skills and QualificationsEducation & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required

Prior experience as a Field Technician or in a related operations role

3-5 years of experience in oil and gas production operations preferred

Hands-on experience with small and large horsepower compression equipment required

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of well operations, production systems, and compression equipment

Experience with pipeline operations and associated equipment

Familiarity with preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance practices

Understanding of safety systems, including emergency shutdown (ESD) systems

Knowledge of field sampling techniques and basic laboratory testing

Familiarity with industry regulations, standards, and operational procedures

Ability to interpret operational data and identify performance trends
