Fraud Specialist

Velocity Community Credit Union is looking for a Fraud Specialist to join our team!

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Fraud Specialist at our location in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. The Fraud Specialist is responsible for monitoring, detecting, investigating, and preventing fraudulent activity across all banking channels. This role protects credit union and member financial assets by monitoring transactions, identifying suspicious activity, and conducting thorough investigations to deter, prevent, and recover losses sustained by such activities. The Fraud Specialist also partners with other departments to educate staff and members on fraud prevention strategies.

Responsibilities of the Fraud Specialist are:

1. Monitor and decision alerts in Verafin and other fraud tools with accuracy and take appropriate action to prevent and mitigate fraud losses. Review accounts and transactions for fraud activity and take appropriate action, such as restricting an account, to prevent fraud losses. Decision fraud claims and cases.

2. Investigates fraudulent activity to ensure minimal loss to the organization. Conducts phone and/or in person investigations with suspects and/or victims. Assist members in resolving fraud issues that require extensive research and independent decision-making.

3.Documents investigations, findings, and resolutions of fraud claims. Prepare various reports to update status of investigations.

4.Assists in recovery of losses due to fraudulent activity. Acts as a liaison to local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. Attends local economic crime meetings.

5. Provides fraud awareness and education to members and staff.

6. Supports fraud related audits as needed.

Job Requirements:

One year to three years of similar or related experience. or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Strong organizational skills

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)
