Controller / Accounting Manager (Construction Subcontractor)

Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on Controller / Accounting Manager to lead accounting operations across two growing construction and service companies. This role is responsible for full-cycle accounting, cash management, collections, monthly close, recurring revenue accounting, and financial reporting to external CPA. The Controller will oversee internal controls, inventory processes, and supervise HR and administrative functions. This is a leadership role for someone who can both execute and improve systems. This position plays a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of financial management and accounting operations within a small accounting team of people. This position focuses on multifaceted accounting tasks tailored to residential and commercial construction projects ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial planning to support business growth and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

Prepare and manage financial reporting for construction projects including projections and WIP

Continued development and overseeing budget management and cost control initiatives

Manage cash flow to sustain operational liquidity

Lead and mentor a small accounting team

Oversee HR manager and payroll

Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal policies

Review contracts for financial implications and accuracy

Warehouse controls and inventory managment

Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes

Perform financial analysis and forecasting to guide decision-making

Implement and maintain internal controls

Manage recurring revenue accounting specific to Fire Alarm, Cameras, and Security Alarm Services.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 3 years' experience in construction accounting

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or FinanceCompany Description
