We are pleased to introduce you to Compassion Veterinary Center (CVC). Our mission is to provide comprehensive, high-quality, and affordable care to the Fredericksburg, Virginia community. Come join us as we prepare to move into new facility featuring six exam rooms, a dual dental suite, surgery suite, and serene euthanasia room.

As a full-service veterinary clinic specializing in wellness, surgery, and urgent care, we invite you to join our team providing a comprehensive range of services, including general and emergency medicine, diagnostics, dentistry, and surgery. CVC is dedicated to small animal medicine, utilizing sophisticated diagnostics and critical urgent care.

CVC is currently seeking one or two dependable receptionists to join our team as we transition to our new location. We are looking for detail-oriented individuals who can multitask effectively and provide exceptional service to our clients. Receptionist experience is preferred but we are willing to train a great candidate.

As the primary point of contact for our practice, the receptionist plays a vital role in our customer service standards.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Be the first point of contact: Greet clients and their pets warmly, complete the sign-in process, verify and confirm appointment details, and ensure clients feel informed and reassured.

Answering telephones and scheduling appointments.

Monitoring emails and requesting medical records.

Recording patient weights and accurately updating medical charts.

Previous experience in a medical or veterinary front desk, receptionist, or administrative assistant role

Basic knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures

Comfort discussing sensitive topics (e.g., end-of-life care, financial discussions) with empathy

Ability to maintain a calm, professional, and positive demeanor

Support clinical flow: Escort clients to exam rooms, assist in relaying key information between clients and clinical staff.

Manage client communications: Handle incoming calls for appointments, care questions, prescription refills, and more. Make outbound calls for appointment reminders and follow-up care.

Operate with accuracy: Process payments, manage invoicing, and schedule future appointments with attention to detail.

Speak the language: Understand and communicate clearly about common vaccines, lab tests, procedures, pet behavior, and veterinary terminology.

Create a welcoming space: Help maintain a clean, organized, and client-ready environment-including occasionally assisting with pet-related clean-up to ensure a pleasant experience for all visitors.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary commensurate with experience; $15-22 per hour
