Client: CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield

Role: Senior Software Engineer - IBM DataPower and IBM API Connect

Location: Hybrid - Onsite 1-2 times per month in Reston, VA.

Candidates MUST reside in the DMV or WV areas.

Duration: 12-month contract-to-hire

Rate: $90.00

Conversion Salary: $140,000/year

Candidate Status Requirement: Green Card or USC

Summary:

CareFirst is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and integrate APIs within its IBM Cloud environment, utilizing tools such as IBM API Connect, IBM DataPower, Node.js/Python, and OpenAPI Specifications.

This role is part of CareFirst's ongoing cloud modernization strategy. Future responsibilities include supporting migration initiatives to AWS Cloud, leveraging services like API Gateway, Lambda Authorizer, and Terraform.

Required Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in software engineering

3+ years of experience developing and integrating APIs using Node.js or Python

Hands-on experience with OpenAPI Specifications (OAS, formerly Swagger)

Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins

Experience with IBM DataPower and IBM API Connect Nice to Have:

Experience with any of the following:

Lambda Authorizer

SwaggerHub

Terraform

Bash/Shell scripting
