Job Description
Description:
At Commence, we’re the start of a new age of data-centric transformation, elevating health outcomes and powering better, more efficient process to program and patient health. We combine quality data-driven solutions that fuel answers, technology that advances performance, and clinical expertise that builds trust to create a more efficient path to quality care.
With human-centered, healthcare-relevant, and value-based solutions, we create new possibilities with data. We provide proof beyond the concept and performance beyond the scope with a focus on efficiencies that transform the lives of those we serve. With a culture driven by purpose, straightforward communication and clinical domain expertise, Commence cuts straight to better care.Requirements:
The Solution/Integration Architect will design and implement health data integration strategies across complex federal health and social services ecosystems. You'll serve as the bridge between federal agency stakeholders and engineering teams, translating program requirements into scalable technical architectures that enable seamless medical evidence collection, multi-channel data ingestion, and compliant delivery of clinical information into federal case management environments.
Lead discovery sessions with federal agency clients and internal stakeholders to understand data needs, evidence workflows, and existing system landscapes
Design end-to-end integration architectures connecting federal health IT systems, health information exchanges, and multi-channel evidence intake pipelines
Define scalable ingestion and normalization pipelines for clinical, administrative, and medical record data received across electronic, fax, paper, and portal channels
Develop technical specifications, data flow diagrams, and integration roadmaps for federal program environments
Design integration architectures that complement existing automated evidence request systems, ensuring coordinated multi-channel evidence collection without duplicate requests across electronic and manual retrieval channels
Implement and optimize data exchanges using HL7 FHIR R4, C-CDA, and other healthcare interoperability standards; design solutions aligned with eHealth Exchange, Carequality, and TEFCA frameworks
Architect AI/NLP-enabled document processing pipelines for medical record classification, extraction, and non-adjudicative summarization — with explicit source traceability requirements
Ensure compliance with federal security and privacy frameworks including FedRAMP, FISMA, and HIPAA across all integration components
Design and maintain integration touchpoints with federal case management and evidence repository systems, ensuring deliverables are consumable within existing agency workflows without requiring changes to agency-side infrastructure
Evaluate build vs. buy decisions and recommend appropriate technologies within FedRAMP-authorized cloud environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government)
Collaborate with data and clinical teams to design performant data models that support analytics, reporting, and program performance monitoring
Qualifications
B.S. in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Health Informatics, or related field; advanced degree a plus
7+ years of experience in federal health IT, health data integration, or a related technical field
Direct experience integrating with federal agency health IT systems or evidence management platforms — federal disability or benefits program environments particularly relevant (SSA, CMS, VA, or HHS)
Strong working knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards: HL7 FHIR R4, C-CDA, eHealth Exchange, Carequality, and/or TEFCA
Experience designing multi-channel clinical document ingestion pipelines handling structured and unstructured medical records at scale
Hands-on FedRAMP authorization experience — system owner, technical lead, or ISSO role preferred
Familiarity with AI/NLP applied to clinical documents, including medical record classification, extraction, or summarization in a HIPAA-covered federal environment
Exposure to major EHR platforms (Epic, Oracle Health/Cerner) and their interoperability connectivity models
Proficiency in at least one backend language (Python, Java, C#) and strong SQL/NoSQL skills
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical architectures for both federal agency stakeholders and internal engineering teams
Experience operating within FedRAMP-authorized cloud environments (AWS GovCloud or Azure Government)
