Longwood University invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Project Manager / Architect / Engineer I (R0038) in the Capital Design and Construction department. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering all aspects of a construction project from conception until final completion. This includes the selection of a design firm and overseeing the design process to ensure the project design meets the end user's and other University department requirements, budget and schedule constraints, and code requirements; coordinating the project design and construction with multiple Commonwealth agencies and local utility providers; assisting the Materiel Management department with solicitation of construction bids; overseeing the construction process to ensure construction meets the requirements of construction documents and projects are completed on schedule.
This position is located in Farmville, Virginia, and is required to work in person on Longwood University's campus.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Work with the contractors, architects, and inspectors to ensure design documents and construction comply with building codes while also maintaining University design standards, program requirements, and adhering to budget constraints
Work with the Facilities Management and Operations department to coordinate mechanical and electrical systems
Provide a review of design and contract documents for compliance, utilizing good construction techniques
Manage the project budget through all phases to ensure expenditures and encumbrances do not exceed available funds.
Supervise support staff, including a project inspector and a potential assistant project manager.
Monitor project schedule and budget
Document meetings with user groups
Work with appropriate state agencies, public utility companies, and local municipality to provide appropriate approvals throughout the design and construction phases of a project

Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Engineering, or equivalent experience
Broad and thorough knowledge of architectural or engineering principles, mathematics, physical and applied science, properties of materials, and fundamentals of design
Fundamental knowledge of budget creation and tracking requirements
Significant knowledge of planning and construction techniques
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other software
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and perform detailed work
Excellent interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills
Professional Engineering or Architecture license preferred
Experience with the Commonwealth's Construction and Professional Services Manual preferred
Knowledge of CADD or Revit preferred

This is a full-time, restricted-classified, exempt position in pay band 5. This is a restricted-classified position, which means the position will be available only as long as funding is available.
