ITS, Senior, Software Developer
30 month contract

Work model: 40% telecommuting, 60% Office per week
--- Project Description ---
This position will be in support of the NYS Tax Modernization
Program. This program will encompass multiple projects to
modernize legacy systems within the NYS Department of
Taxation and Finance, which is responsible for billions in state
revenue. Some of the major areas under modernization include:
• Collections and Accounts Receivable • Taxpayer Accounting
--- Day-to-Day Tasks ---
1. Obtain business requirements to develop automated
applications which meet business priorities.
2. Provide lead programming duties for tax related applications.
3. Develop and mentor staff using various technologies including
J2EE, Spring, JSON, JavaScript and JDBC.
4. Develop and review detailed documentation for system and
program change requirement including detail specifications
documents.
5. Assist and provide guidance through all phases of the project
management life cycle.
6. Develop unit test plans based on coding changes and user
specifications. Conduct unit testing and debugging of all code
changes in the development environment.
7. Coordinate the migration of all code changes (programs,
procedures, etc.) from development environment into user test
environment.
8. Assist team members using distributed technologies including
Java, DB2, XML and XQuery. Ensure that staff members are
properly trained and mentored.
9. Provide support, as needed, for defects and issue resolution.
Ensure that defects and issues are addressed promptly based
on priority.
10. Facilitate and participate in meetings with ITS and DTF
customers.
11. Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, with DTF
management and users, ITS management, and team members.
Software Developer
Is involved with all facets of the software development process, including the research, design, programming, testing and implementation of computer software.
Senior
60 - 84 Months: Candidate is able to work independently, without assistance and provides guidance to others. May have an advanced education.
• 60 months of experience with J2EE technologies including JDBC,
JSP and XML.
• 60 months of experience developing, building, and testing Java EE
applications using modern IDE's, such as Eclipse, NetBeans, or
IntelliJ.15
• 60 months of experience using J2EE frameworks such as Spring or
Struts and Application Servers such as Tomcat, JBoss, WebSphere
or WebLogic.
• 60 months of experience writing SQL statements for relational
databases.
• 36 months of experience in messaging technologies, such as MQ,
JMS, Kafka.
• 60 months of experience in system analysis and design of multi-
tiered transactional systems.
