Payroll Assistant
Location: New York, NY (Onsite)
Duration: 5 Weeks
Schedule: (35 hours/week), 08:00 AM – 04:00 PM, flexible schedule with rotating early/late FridaysPosition Overview
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Assistant to support end-to-end payroll operations in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The role involves processing payroll for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring compliance with payroll regulations, and maintaining high standards of accuracy and data integrity.Key Responsibilities
Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees accurately and on schedule
Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, deductions, taxes, garnishments, and benefits (including 401k)
Assist with wage garnishments and payroll-related transfers and reporting
Maintain and update employee payroll records within HRIS/payroll systems
Reconcile payroll data and support audits, year-end reporting, and tax filings (e.g., W-2s)
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries professionally
Support leadership and accounting teams with related financial and administrative tasks
Conduct audits to ensure accuracy and maintain data integrity across systemsRequired Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
Minimum 2+ years of payroll processing experience
Strong knowledge of payroll operations including garnishments, taxes, and year-end processing
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) – intermediate to advanced level
Experience with payroll/HR systems (Oracle Cloud, PeopleSoft, ADP preferred)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in retro pay calculations
High attention to detail with strong data accuracy
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information
Strong communication skills for interaction with HR, finance, and employeesPreferred Certifications
FPC or CPP certification preferred
