Position: Mechanical Engineer
Position Type: Contract to Hire
Location: Rochester Hills, MI
Pay: $35-45
Shifts: 8am-5pm
Position Summary:
The Engineer (Robot Controls and Dress out) is responsible for the development and engineering of controls and dress out designs for the Product Plus Group (PPG) with a focus on efficient and accurate execution to help drive customer satisfaction along with overall project profitability.
The ideal candidate is a customer-focused, problem-solver who has experience with robotics in various
applications and proven ability to develop controls and dress out prints.
Position Responsibilities:
· Engineer custom product plus solutions based on quoted project deliverables, change orders, and overall
· customer needs.
· Develop dress out specifications to meet application needs and work with dress out suppliers.
· Develop a plan and drawings for:
· Robot with dress out installed.
· Air/Water preparation equipment.
· J3 equipment/pneumatics.
· Robot controller interface package.
· Order robot configurations, dress outs, and interface solutions on time and per customer specifications.
· Hold engineering design reviews and maintain a high level of engineering accuracy following ISO
· procedures.
· Provide regular communication/status updates to project team members and FAC management.
· Provide customer support including application and implementation guidance and design approvals.
· Release approved engineering packages in ERP for each project.
· Support Continuous Improvement of PPG Engineering Standards and refinement of ISO processes.
· Manage project costs through efficient engineering and focus on lower cost solutions.
· Support manufacturing/integration efforts on FAC floor including testing plans for run-off validation.
· Create and deliver technical presentations for internal and customer training.
· Support failure analysis and troubleshooting efforts and present root cause and corrective action to
· customers.
· Support integrators and line builders trying to integrate and install new robotic applications.
Position Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or dual background in both) or related technical field; or equivalent, relevant experience.
· Minimum two years of experience of industrial automation design with CAD software
· package.
· Ability to create and read electrical interface, robot mechanical dress out and pneumatic prints.
· Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks drawing suites.
