Salary: $21.45 - $26.81
This position is posted as a Field Operator. However, individual qualifications may allow for Field Operator II or III.
Field Operator II: $23.10 - $28.87
Field Operator III: $26.13 - $32.67
Responsibilities
Performs building and grounds repair and maintenance work and required drainage control work., returning grounds, yard, and facilities to original status once repairs or maintenance are completed.
Operates, maintains, and accounts for equipment and tools required in performance of work to repair water and wastewater lines; conducts preventative maintenance on lines; performs repair or regular maintenance to customers lift stations.
Performs operating, testing, maintenance, and repair work on water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
Records operational data, personnel attendance, and meter and gauge readings on specified forms.Reads residential, commercial, and industrial meters manually.
Checks meters to determine if maintenance is required.
Maintains, repairs, and lubricates equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
Performs taps for water and wastewater, including polyfusion welding.
Troubleshoots electrical and mechanical malfunctions including grinder pump replacement, and electrical component replacement.
Accomplishes all work with minimum service interruption and property disturbance.
Assists with routine maintenance on the collection system including cleaning sewer lines, repairing and maintaining sections of sewer main, cutting roots, and other related activities.
Assists with the operation of the sewer jet, vacuum unit, machine to maintain the sanitary sewer collections systems.
Assists with the maintenance of the collection system equipment, facilities and vehicles; performs repair work; performs preventative maintenance and other related activities.
Minimum Training, Education and Experience Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver's license
Preferred Training, Education and Experience:
Twelve months related experience and/or training; or associate degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
B Level Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Tanker Endorsement.
Requirements Certificates/Licensures:
Ability to obtain a TCEQ Water D Operator Certification and a Collection I Certification within 12 months from start date.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed more than one third of the time to conditions such moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals, biohazards, and outside weather conditions. The employee may also be exposed to high, precarious places, and vibration. The employee may also be exposed to risk of electrical shock, wet and slippery conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. This position may be called out 24 hours a day or rotate being on call, including weekends and holidays.
