Traffic Control Specialist

The Town of Southampton is hiring a full time Traffic Control Specialist for our Police Department. Duties include but are not limited to:

Directs and controls vehicular-pedestrian traffic at intersections, at accident sites, special events, at crossings near schools or other areas which have a great deal of pedestrian traffic;

Patrols an assigned area in order to enforce laws, rules regulations relating to parking meters, parking, stopping and standing of vehicles;

Prepares and issues summonses for vehicle and traffic and parking violations;

Observes and records possible potential or actual violation of local ordinances and reports same to police officers or fire inspectors for further investigation;

Reports inoperative or missing meters and traffic conditions requiring attention;

Prepares required reports; verifies information with Department of Motor Vehicles with the use of data entry equipment.

This position requires either graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.

A valid driver's license must be maintained throughout employment for this position.

*This position will require an eventual Civil Service exam.

Annual Salary -$57,858.48 plus full benefits package
