Qualifications:
Must be a retired United States Air Force Commissioned Officer
Bachelor’s degree required
Complete the mandatory Air Force JROTC Instructor Certification Course (JICC) as a condition of certification
Must be eligible for a Alabama Teaching Certificate
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Background Check Required: (Ala. Code §§ 16-22A-5) Upon offer of employment, employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Background checks may not be more than ten (10) years old.
Essential Functions:
Maintains supply accountability in strict compliance with Air Force security regulations
Responsible for unit logistics
Utilizes and follows the state course of study
Determines individual and class needs
Establishes objectives and plans learning experiences
Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives
Organizes, supervises and participates in extracurricular activities for AFJROTC cadets to include color guard, drill teams and other special activities
Evaluates student progress and counsels cadets on their performance within the AFJROTC program
Maintains AFJROTC student records as required by the Department of Air Force regulations and local policies
Complies with Air Force and school district safety guidelines when instructing, supervising, monitoring and accompanying cadets
Exhibits positive human relations skills
Communicates with parents/ guardians, colleagues and community groups
Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication
Maintains and submits records and reports
Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and state and federal rules and regulations
Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership
Be an Ambassador of the Air Force. An AFJROTC instructor is expected to exemplify a positive image of the Air Force at all times by conducting themselves in a highly professional manner, in both their words and their actions
Other duties as assigned
This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by Madison City Schools.
Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.
Expected Employment: 240 (full year)
Evaluation: According to established Board policies and administrative procedures and guidelines.
