The Role
We are seeking a motivated Irrigation Field Service Technician to join our professional team. In this role, you will be the face of our company, working independently or in small teams to ensure our clients' outdoor systems are performing at their peak. From spring start-ups to winterization and custom lighting installs, your work will directly impact the beauty and sustainability of our local community.
Responsibilities and Duties
System Evaluations & Start-ups: Conduct seasonal "turn-on" evaluations, checking for leaks, clearing clogged nozzles, and adjusting sprinkler heads for maximum efficiency.
Maintenance & Repairs: Diagnose and repair damaged components, including valves, pipes, and spray heads. Perform controller programming and rain sensor testing.
Winterization: Use high-volume air compressors to properly blow out systems, ensuring the integrity of the irrigation lines against freeze damage.
Backflow Testing: (If certified) Conduct mandated backflow prevention testing and complete necessary DPOR-compliant documentation.
Lighting Installation: Install and troubleshoot low-voltage landscape lighting systems to enhance property security and curb appeal.
Customer Education: Provide "controller lessons" to clients, explaining how to operate their systems, set schedules, and manage water consumption.
Site Management: Accurately locate and mark valve boxes and sprinkler heads for aeration or construction projects.
Qualifications and Skills
Experience: Proven experience in the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of underground irrigation systems is required.
Technical Knowledge: Skilled in working with various types of underground irrigation components and controllers. Experience with low-voltage lighting is a major plus.
Certification: DPOR certification is a strong advantage.
Customer Service: Excellent communication skills with a focus on providing "white-glove" service to our clients.
Reliability: A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required for traveling to job sites across Northern Virginia.
Physical Ability: Must be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and performing physical labor (digging, kneeling, lifting).
