Job Description
This role operates a variety of fabrication equipment in a clean, organized metal distribution shop. You will run machines such as brake presses, miter saws, punch presses, and CNC mills, read and interpret blueprints, and support general shop activities including packaging and occasional forklift operation. The position requires consistent heavy lifting and the ability to switch between tasks in a small, flexible team environment.
Responsibilities
Operate fabrication equipment including brake presses, miter saws, punch presses, and CNC mills according to established procedures and safety standards.
Read and interpret blueprints and production prints to ensure accurate cutting, forming, and machining of metal materials.
Measure materials accurately using a tape measure, including converting fractions to decimals to meet precise specifications.
Cut metal to size for customer orders, ensuring accuracy, quality, and proper documentation of completed work.
Perform basic machine setup and adjustments as needed, particularly on brake presses and CNC equipment, if experienced.
Assist with packaging finished products, including labeling, wrapping, and preparing materials for shipment or pickup.
Handle and move materials safely throughout the shop, including occasional operation of a forklift when needed.
Lift and move materials weighing 50–100 pounds frequently throughout the workday while following proper lifting techniques.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including routine housekeeping tasks on and around machines.
Follow all shop rules, including limited phone usage during working hours, and adhere to safety and quality guidelines.
Collaborate with a small team, supporting various shop tasks and willingly wearing multiple hats as workload and priorities shift.
Essential Skills
Previous experience running fabrication machines such as brake presses, saws, punch presses, or CNC mills.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints or production prints, or strong willingness to learn if not yet proficient.
Proficiency using a tape measure, including accurately converting fractions to decimals.
Ability to frequently lift and move 50–100 pounds throughout the workday.
General machine operation skills and comfort working with metal materials in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
Willingness to follow shop policies, including no phone usage during working hours.
Attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
Ability to work safely around fabrication equipment and follow safety procedures.
Work Environment
The role is based in a smaller, clean, and well-organized metal distribution facility with a tidy shop floor and neatly arranged inventory. You will work around fabrication equipment such as brake presses, miter saws, punch presses, and CNC mills, and may occasionally use a forklift to move materials. The environment is flexible and team-oriented, with a focus on maintaining an orderly workspace and following safety practices. Employees can wear headphones and listen to music while working, but phone usage is not allowed during work time. The shop atmosphere is practical and hands-on, with a supportive, down-to-earth culture.Job Type & Location

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
