Role Description: This is a full-time, on-site role for a Purchasing Associate based in Bensalem, PA.
Qualified candidates must be a strategic and analytical thinker, have knowledge and understanding of food distribution, and be familiar with procurement principles.
Candidate will report to the office Monday through Friday and must be comfortable working in both an office and a warehouse setting.
The Candidate will report to and work with the Purchasing Manager, as well as ownership.
Core Responsibilities: This role requires a blend of analytical skills, negotiation prowess, and a deep understanding of food safety and shelf-life logistics.
The Purchasing Associate will be responsible for receiving, processing, and managing purchase orders, maintaining inventory levels, and coordinating with vendors to ensure the timely delivery of goods, with regular visits to the warehouse to physically receive and verify shipments.
Additional responsibilities will include but are not limited to; analyzing data to support sound procurement decisions, creating void matrices to identify sales opportunities, support inventory control processes and quality assurance efforts, negotiate pricing and programs with suppliers as directed, and organize, schedule, and coordinate backhaul pickups and inbound delivery of goods.
Qualifications:Prior working experience in the Food Services or Distribution related industry in a purchasing, inventory control, or operations position.
(minimum 3 years). Associate or bachelor’s degree in business management, marketing, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.Strong communication skills to support effective collaboration across internal departments (sales, operations, and warehousing), as well as external vendor coordination.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including data entry, formulas, basic automation, and chart creation.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.Ability to support inventory management processes with a focus on accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail.
Prior experience working in a temperature-controlled warehouse setting, as this position may require standing or working with warehouse members for periods of several hours at a time, as well as infrequent lifting of 30+ pounds.
