Job Description
A leading specialty contractor in the Southeast is creating a brand-new role focused on transforming how field work gets planned, executed, and measured. If you have a background in Lean construction or production-based operations and you want to build something from scratch, this is that opportunity.
The Role
You will design and implement a field production system that brings manufacturing-style discipline to construction operations. Think standardized planning, visual management, crew-level accountability, and data-driven performance tracking. This is not a back-office process role. You will be on job sites working directly with superintendents, foremen, and project managers to change how work gets done every day.
What You Will Own
• Building the production framework: playbooks, scorecards, dashboards, and planning tools that become the operating standard for field teams
• Piloting the system on active projects and leading hands-on training and coaching for field leadership
• Running the daily and weekly production rhythm (huddles, reviews, visual tracking) that keeps crews aligned and accountable
• Owning the performance data: labor efficiency, schedule adherence, rework rates, and crew utilization
• Leading root cause analysis when things go sideways and driving corrective actions
• Running post-project debriefs and continuously improving the system based on what the data and field teams tell you
• Partnering across operations, safety, preconstruction, and HR to make sure the framework integrates into how the business already runs
What Success Looks Like
• Measurable gains in field labor productivity
• Lower rework and downtime across active projects
• Consistent adoption of production planning routines by field crews
• A documented, repeatable system that scales beyond the initial pilot
What You Bring
• Hands-on experience implementing Lean or production-based systems in construction or fabrication environments
• Working knowledge of takt planning, Last Planner System, or similar production flow approaches
• A track record of getting field teams to actually adopt new ways of working, not just designing systems on paper
• Strong data and analytics skills; comfortable with dashboards and turning field data into decisions (Excel, Power BI, or similar)
• The ability to communicate and coach at every level, from the executive suite to the field crew
Details
• Experience: 7+ years in field operations, production planning, or process improvement
• Education: Bachelor's in Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• Certifications: Lean Construction or Six Sigma preferred
• Travel: Regular travel to project sites across metro Atlanta
• Reports to: Executive leadership
