CNC Laser & Turret Punch Operator – SetupPosition Summary:

The CNC Laser & Turret Punch Operator/Setup is responsible for the complete setup, operation, and optimization of CNC sheet metal fabrication equipment, including the Amada ENSIS 3015 AJ and Amada CNC turret punch machines. This role ensures precision manufacturing of aerospace and defense components while maintaining strict adherence to quality, traceability, and regulatory requirements.Key Responsibilities:

Perform full machine setups for both fiber laser and turret punch operations, including program loading, tooling setup, and material preparation

Operate and troubleshoot the Amada ENSIS 3015 AJ and Amada CNC turret punch presses to maintain efficiency and quality

Set up and align punch tooling (dies, punches, stations) and verify correct tool selection per job requirements

Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T to ensure accurate production

Perform first article inspections and in-process checks to verify conformance

Optimize machine parameters (laser settings, punch hits, tool paths, nesting, etc.) for productivity and quality

Ensure proper material handling, identification, and full traceability in compliance with aerospace standards

Inspect parts for burrs, edge quality, hole accuracy, and dimensional tolerances

Perform routine preventive maintenance on machines and tooling

Work closely with engineering and quality teams to resolve manufacturing issues

Maintain accurate production, inspection, and traceability documentation

Follow all safety procedures, including laser and press safety protocolsQualifications:

High school diploma or GED required; technical certification preferred

2+ years of experience setting up and operating CNC laser and/or turret punch machines

Experience with Amada equipment (fiber laser and punch press) strongly preferred

Background in aerospace, defense, or high-precision manufacturing

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T

Familiarity with quality systems such as AS9100 / ISO 9001

Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude

Basic computer and CNC control experiencePreferred Skills:

Experience with Amada VPSS or similar programming/nesting software

Knowledge of punch tooling maintenance and sharpening requirements

Familiarity with common sheet metals (aluminum, stainless steel, etc.)Work Environment:

Shop floor environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and metal materials

Standing for long periods; lifting up to 50 lbs may be required

PPE required at all times
