Instrumentation and Control Engineer (New Graduate) Reporting to the Instrumentation & Controls Engineering Manager, this role will support the technical direction for overall project delivery and interface with internal and external customers. The focus will be on design, troubleshooting, and support of fueling handling systems, tooling, medical isotope systems, and remote delivery machines. Tools used include AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and IntEC for creating drawings, designs, BOMs, and wiring diagrams.

Location:

Onsite in Peterborough, Ontario.

Your Day to Day (Responsibilities & Qualifications)

New graduate with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Aerospace and exemplary academic achievement.

Co op or internship experience in design engineering in a regulated or process based industry such as Nuclear, Aerospace, Mining, Oil & Gas.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, understandable by a diverse audience.

Competence in design and design processes.

Creative problem solving skills, strong analytical abilities, developing leadership skills, and ability to work in a team.

Flexibility to work remotely on short term customer site assignments.

Creative and innovative thinker.

Desired Characteristics

Experience with IBM DOORS.

Experience in the CANDU nuclear industry.

Familiarity with CSA nuclear codes and standards.

Strong communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.

General understanding of Engineering Change Control (ECC) concepts for the nuclear industry or other regulated industries.

Ability to interface with project team members, vendors, and customers to ensure scope and requirements are met within schedule and budget.

Ability to work independently and interface with collaborators across functions.

Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and ability to ensure designs comply.

Project management and controls training; at minimum exposure working within these controls.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $68,000 and $90,000 per year. Salary is based on local market factors and may vary based on candidate experience and other considerations. Total compensation may also include annual cash incentive and full range of benefits.
