Job Requirements
Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience — Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Stepdown, or similar acute care experience preferred
Progressive Care / Stepdown / PCU experience preferred (PCU nurse experience a plus)
Valid Ohio RN license (compact license accepted) — Ohio nursing jobs
BLS and ACLS certifications required
Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
First-time travel nurses accepted — travel nursing opportunities welcome
Ability to float within the organization as needed
Two professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership)
Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with chronic medical conditions in a progressive care / stepdown environment
Monitor and manage patients with mixed acuity, including post-op, medical, and trauma stepdown cases
Interpret and manage dysrhythmias; initiate rapid response and collaborate with code teams as needed
Administer medications and treatments using medication dispensing systems (Pyxis, Accudose, Omnicell)
Document patient care using Epic electronic medical records (EMR)
Provide peripheral line care, oxygen therapy administration, and follow isolation precautions / PPE protocols
Communicate effectively using SBAR and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IV team, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, Social Services, etc.)
Float to other units within the organization as required to meet patient care needs
