Job Description
Lead Architect
Title: Lead Architect
Location: Remote (EST/EDT)
Primary stack: AWS, Kotlin, Java, Node.js, React
AI focus: Claude Code and product integration
Since our founding in 2006, we've powered work for thousands of teams worldwide! With 30,000+ customers, including one in three Fortune 500 companies, and sustained growth of ~40% year-over-year, we build the technology that helps modern teams deliver - from vision to value. Our integrated suite covers time management, resource planning, budgeting, roadmapping, program management, and reporting. We're on a mission to continuously innovate award-winning products and embed AI into the core product experience so teams can work smarter, not harder.
As Lead Architect you'll be a technical authority across the product suite, driving modernization, operational excellence, and an AI-First initiative that brings Claude Code and production AI features directly into customer-facing products.
You are a technical navigator who stays connected to the engine room. You'll lead architectural strategy, modernize our stack with modern architecture methodologies, and champion developer experience and AI adoption across engineering.
What you'll own
Architectural leadership - Design and oversee highly scalable, secure systems using event-driven architecture and AWS-native patterns.
Product AI integration - Architect and implement AI features (RAG, prompt engineering, LLM orchestration) that deliver smarter user experiences.
AI strategy and developer experience - Champion Claude Code adoption; define workflows and best practices for rapid prototyping, refactoring, and automated testing.
Marketplace integrations - Build high-performance integrations for Jira and Confluence while navigating platform constraints and performance tradeoffs.
Operational excellence - Align technical roadmaps with operational goals, ensuring security, cost optimization, and developer velocity.
Cross-team leadership - Lead technical discussions, mentor engineers, and translate product needs into robust, maintainable architectures.
What we're looking for
Experience: 10+ years in software engineering, with 3+ years in a Lead Architect or equivalent technical leadership role in large-scale SaaS environments.
Platform expertise: Deep experience with AWS and the Well-Architected Framework, serverless patterns, and event-driven services.
Technical stack: Advanced proficiency in Kotlin and Java (JVM); strong experience with Node.js and React.
AI functional expertise: Proven ability to design and ship AI-driven product features, including model selection, token management, and AI security best practices.
Modern patterns: Expert knowledge of event-driven architecture, message brokers (Kafka / SNS / SQS), and distributed systems design.
Marketplace experience: Demonstrated experience building on Atlassian Forge and/or Connect, with a clear understanding of platform constraints and performance considerations.
Communication: Strong collaborator who can translate architecture into actionable plans and communicate tradeoffs to engineering and product leadership.
Strongly preferred
Hands-on experience with Claude Code or similar AI developer tooling.
Track record embedding LLMs into production UIs and backend pipelines.
Experience with Monte Carlo simulation, optimization, or scheduling systems.
Background in portfolio, program, or resource planning domains.
Enterprise SaaS experience with multi-tenancy, compliance, and audit trails.
