Position Description

We are seeking a Senior Web Developer with strong expertise in React to join our CGI offices in Atlantic Canada. This is a full-time, permanent position requiring 7+ years of experience in software development. In this role, you will design and deliver modern, scalable web applications while contributing across the full software development lifecycle.

This is a permanent fulltime, hybrid position requiring 2-3 days onsite at our Atlantic Canada offices- Halifax, NS; Moncton, NB; Fredericton, NB; Stratford, PEI or St. John's, NL.

Your future duties and responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance web applications using React and modern JavaScript frameworks

• Build scalable, maintainable front-end architectures, including single-page applications and micro-frontend patterns

• Collaborate with Product, Design, and backend teams to deliver intuitive and engaging user experiences

• Translate UI/UX designs into responsive, accessible, and high-quality code

• Integrate front-end applications with backend services using GraphQL and APIs

• Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and performance across browsers and devices

• Contribute to code reviews, testing strategies, and engineering best practices

• Participate in CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes to support efficient deployments

• Work in cloud-based environments and contribute to modern application delivery practices

• Actively participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute throughout the full SDLC

• Mentor junior developers and support a culture of continuous improvement

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

• 7+ years of software development experience (7–8 years preferred)

• Strong experience building web applications using React and modern JavaScript frameworks

• Proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), including promises and modern language features

• Solid experience with HTML5, CSS3, and modern CSS techniques

• Experience with GraphQL and API integration

• Experience building and debugging applications across modern browsers (Chrome, Safari, mobile browsers)

• Experience with Git or other distributed version control systems

• Experience designing and implementing single-page applications (SPAs) and complex front-end architectures, including micro-frontend patterns

• Familiarity with testing practices and working in teams that prioritize quality

• Understanding of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with performance tuning and optimizing JavaScript/browser-based applications

• Experience developing and scaling single-page applications

• Experience collaborating closely with Product and Design teams to deliver innovative features

• Hands-on experience with testing tools such as Cypress and Jest

• Experience with Node.js (server-side JavaScript)

• Proficiency in TypeScript

• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern DevOps practices

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $65,000–$125,000. This role is a existing vacancy.
