What We Need YOU To Do:

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental specialist in the Division of Environmental Response and Revitalization (DERR) at our Groveport Field Office.

In this role, you’ll be at the forefront, coordinating and supporting field operations for DERR’s on the ground investigations at state and U.S. EPA Site Assessment locations. You’ll work closely with Superfund program and Site Investigation Field Unit (SIFU) personnel, district offices, and U.S. EPA on operational elements such as site access, work plan preparation, field sampling activities, lab coordination, and report preparation.

You’ll guide technical staff and coordinate Level of Effort (LOE) activities such as mobilization requests, work orders and invoice approvals to keep site assessment projects on track. Beyond project work, you’ll assist leadership in developing program proposals and recommendations that advance division and program goals.

Finally, you’ll collaborate with management and staff to identify and resolve imminent threats and high priority issues in a timely manner to protect public health and the environment.

Let’s talk specifics.

Organizing site access, reconnaissance, and work plan development.

Overseeing field sampling, lab coordination, and data entry.

Preparing reports, graphics, and results correspondence.

Managing project closeouts, recommendations, and briefings.

Coordinating with local governments, health officials, and property owners.

Contribute to program proposals and resolutions for high priority issues.

Develop and deliver training on sampling procedures and program guidance.

7 yrs. relevant programmatic exp.

OR combination of education in environmentally focused discipline or other job-related discipline & specific programmatic experience equaling 7 yrs.

OR completion of undergraduate core coursework in environmentally-related discipline; AND 3 yrs. relevant programmatic exp.

OR 2 yrs. relevant programmatic experience as Environmental Supervisor, 85865.

OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Note: For all positions involved in field work, applicants must be able to provide own transportation. New employees in OEPA's solid waste program, excluding those in the solid waste planning unit, must obtain a sanitarian-in-training certificate during their probationary period.
