What We Need YOU To Do:

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental supervisor in the Division of Environmental Response and Revitalization (DERR), working at our Central Office in downtown Columbus, Ohio.

As DERR’s newest environmental supervisor, you will oversee all aspects of the voluntary action program (VAP), including oversight of No Further Action Letters (NFAs), Technical Assistance requests like Memorandum of Agreements (MOAs), and post-CNS modifications and remedy changes. You will supervise staff activities, establish work assignments, and coordinate/schedule/track work to ensure program commitments and met.

You will assist with day-to-day coordination with other divisions in the agency and with other governmental agencies, including ODOD and U. S. EPA. You will help to develop and implement guidelines that ensure compliance with agency and program policies, procedures, and state and federal laws and rules.

In this role, you will evaluate and determine training needs for new and existing staff and direct the training of staff per the requirements of their Professional Development Plans (PDPs). You will interview and recommend candidates for hiring and conduct periodic performance evaluations.

You will provide technical assistance to consultants, government officials, industry, and citizens on state and federal regulations pertaining to the VAP; and participate in meetings, conferences, and training courses where appropriate.

5 yrs. trg. or 5 yrs. exp. in position involving engineering or chemistry, physics, biology &/or other comparable science field &/or mathematics &/or history &/or archaeology (i.e., latter two subject areas pertain only to Department of Transportation) evaluating & approving complex engineering design plans, conducting most sensitive environmental surveillance activities &/or environmental pollution compliance monitoring inspections, investigating complex public health &/or environmental pollution problems, initiating complex enforcement actions, or assisting in planning, developing & maintaining specific environmental projects & programs; AND 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. as lead worker. Note: Training &/or experience must correspond to environmental area to be assigned. Positions in Environmental Protection Agency's solid waste program, excluding those in solid waste planning unit, also require valid Ohio certificate of registration as sanitarian or valid Ohio certificate as sanitarian-in-training.

OR 12 mos. exp. as Environmental Specialist 2, 85862.

OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
