Job Title: Press Machine Operator / Sheet Metal Fabricator
Job Description
This role focuses on cutting, shaping, and assembling thin metal sheets to produce components, HVAC ductwork, and structural parts based on engineering blueprints. The press machine operator and sheet metal fabricator operates equipment such as shears, press brakes, lasers, roller machines, and hand tools, and contributes to high-quality production by accurately measuring materials and inspecting finished products.
Responsibilities
Operate press brake machines and related sheet metal fabrication equipment to cut, bend, and form metal parts according to specifications and blueprints.
Set up, adjust, and safely operate shears, press brakes, lasers, roller machines, and other fabrication machinery as required.
Use hand tools, including chop saws and draw mills, to cut and shape metal components with precision.
Read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication plans to determine material requirements, dimensions, and fabrication processes.
Measure and mark metal sheets accurately before cutting, bending, or forming to ensure components meet required tolerances.
Work with both aluminum and steel materials, applying proper techniques based on their different properties and characteristics.
Assemble components using appropriate methods such as welding, riveting, or soldering to create finished products or subassemblies.
Inspect finished parts and assemblies for accuracy, quality, and conformance to specifications, making adjustments as needed.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating machinery and handling materials.
Essential Skills
At least 3 years of experience as a sheet metal fabricator or press machine operator.
Proficiency in operating press brake machines for sheet metal fabrication.
Hands-on experience working with sheet metal, including cutting, shaping, and forming operations.
Ability to operate fabrication equipment such as shears, lasers, and roller machines.
Knowledge and practical understanding of working with both aluminum and steel, including their differences and appropriate handling techniques.
Competence in using hand tools such as chop saws and draw mills for metal fabrication.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication blueprints.
Strong measuring and inspection skills to verify dimensions and quality of finished products.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience assembling sheet metal components using welding, riveting, or soldering methods.
Familiarity with inspecting finished sheet metal products for quality and accuracy.
Attention to detail and a strong focus on producing precise, high-quality work.
Ability to work independently and as part of a fabrication team in a production environment.

Work Environment
This position is based in a hands-on fabrication shop environment, working with sheet metal materials such as aluminum and steel. You will regularly operate machinery including press brakes, shears, lasers, roller machines, chop saws, and draw mills, as well as various hand tools. The work involves standing for extended periods, handling metal sheets, and working around active production equipment, with appropriate safety procedures and protective gear in place.Job Type & Location

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
