Job Description

Ventura County Occupational Medical Center (VCOMC) has a position available for a full-time Medical Assistant. VCOMC specializes in Workers' Compensation, Urgent Care, and Family Medicine.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Measure vital signs, obtain patients medical history, and document information into EMR/EHR

Prepare patient for examination and treatment

Assist practitioners with procedures and patient care

Perform diagnostics tests (EKG, PFT, UA, etc.) ordered by practitioner

Urine drug screen collections and breath alcohol tests

Draw blood and administer immunizations, injections, or medications as directed by practitioner

Maintain clean exam rooms and keep supplies fully stocked

Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment

Order medical, laboratory, or office supplies

Answer phone calls and communicating with pharmacies or medical facilities to help facilitate orders or to obtain medical records

Calling pharmacies or placing electronic orders for medication refill requests

Schedule appointments

Maintain patient confidentiality

Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements and Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

Knowledge of medical terminology

Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited school

Minimum 1 year experience as an Medical Assistant

Current BLS/CPR certification

Bilingual in English and Spanish

Experience with EMR/EHR and knowledgeable in computer software applications

Professional verbal and written communication skills

Detail oriented
