WAFAA Organization is seeking a motivated MSW student intern to support our mission of empowering individuals and families through compassionate social services, community outreach, and advocacy. This internship is designed for a graduate social work student who wants hands-on experience in a community-based nonprofit setting while contributing to meaningful work that strengthens the lives of those we serve.
Position Summary
The MSW student intern will assist with client support, resource navigation, outreach, program activities, documentation, and administrative tasks under the supervision of agency staff. This role offers an opportunity to apply classroom learning in a real-world setting while developing professional social work skills.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct support to clients and community members in a respectful, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive manner.
Assist with intake, screening, referrals, and resource connection.
Support community outreach, events, and program activities.
Help maintain accurate case notes, records, and program documentation.
Participate in team meetings, supervision, and training opportunities.
Assist staff with planning and implementing services for individuals and families.
Maintain confidentiality and follow agency policies and ethical standards.
Collaborate with staff to strengthen community engagement and service delivery.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in an MSW program.
Strong interest in community practice, family services, advocacy, or related social work areas.
Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population.
Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and social work ethics.
Spanish or other language skills are a plus, if relevant to the population served.
Learning Opportunities
