Work Based Learning Coordinator (Part-Time)

Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the core purpose of the Work Based Learning Coordinator is to design, implement, and oversee programs where students apply technical and academic skills in professional settings. This includes internships, apprenticeships, job shadowing, and cooperative education. They work to increase student employability while building a pipeline of talent for the local economy.

Essential Functions

Identifying students eligible for WBL and matching them with opportunities based on their Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathway.

Teaching "soft skills" or "employability skills," such as resume writing, interviewing, and workplace etiquette.

Conducting regular site visits to observe students at work and ensuring they are meeting learning objectives.

Business and Community Outreach

Networking with local businesses, chambers of commerce, and non-profits to create new placement opportunities.

Organizing meetings with industry experts to ensure the school's curriculum stays relevant to current workforce needs.

Promoting the WBL program to the community and parents to build support and participation.

Compliance and Documentation

Ensuring all work sites comply with federal and state Child Labor Laws and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.

Creating and maintaining legally binding "Training Agreements" signed by the student, parent, employer, and school.

Tracking student hours, evaluations, and certifications for state reporting and graduation credits.

Instructional Alignment

Collaborating with classroom teachers to ensure that what a student does at a job site directly reinforces what they are learning in school.

Developing the rubrics and evaluation tools used to grade the student's performance at the worksite.

Additional Duties

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment

Use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

Travel Requirements

Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Work Schedule

Standard teacher work schedule as set forth in the Teachers' Unit Contract.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.

Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.

Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.

Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.

Ability to organize and coordinate work.

Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.

Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards

Work in standard office and school building environments.

Certification/License:

9-12 Teacher Coordinator Work Based Learning

Education:

Bachelor's from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.

Masters Degree preferred.

Experience:

Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.

Salary Range: $47,834-$76,719

FLSA Status: Exempt
