Position Overview
NOW HIRING an experienced Operations Manager to lead day-to-day operations at a machining company in South Charlotte, NC. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing production staff and sales representatives, driving operational efficiency, and supporting continued business growth.
The ideal candidate has a some experience in a technical industry along with experience handling inventory, profit and loss and full management of about 20 people.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Leadership
Oversee daily operations to ensure production goals, quality standards, and delivery timelines are met
Manage, coach, and develop shop floor staff, supervisors, and support personnel
Collaborate closely with sales representatives to align production capabilities with customer needs
Monitor workflow, capacity planning, scheduling, and continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational procedures
Sales & Customer Support
Act as a key liaison between operations and sales teams
Support sales reps with technical insight, quoting input, and feasibility assessments
Help translate customer requirements into clear production plans
Assist in resolving customer issues related to lead times, quality, or specifications
Process Improvement & Performance
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize processes
Track and report on operational KPIs such as productivity, on-time delivery, and quality metrics
Participate in strategic planning and execution of operational goals
Support implementation of new equipment, systems, or procedures as needed
Qualifications
Required:
5+ years of operations or management
Proven experience managing teams, including both technical staff and sales or client-facing roles
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work full-time, in-office in South Charlotte, NC
Preferred:
Technical background in machining, CNC operations, manufacturing engineering, or a related field is a plus but not required
Someone who has worked for smaller companies managing around 20 people or so.
Experience in a job shop or precision machining environment is helpful
