Job Description
Description:
RAM Aerospace is a leader in aerospace innovation, powering flight and space exploration with precision solenoids, valves, and actuators. Since 1975, we’ve supported missions like the Space Shuttle and continue to deliver mission-critical components for commercial, defense, and satellite systems. As one of Southern Utah’s largest employers, we drive economic growth and offer high-skilled careers in engineering and manufacturing. From our advanced facility in St. George, we build the future of aerospace—on time, with excellence, and as a team. Join us to work on groundbreaking technology and help shape the future of flight and space exploration. Your career takes off here!
As our Maintenance Technician, you are the first responder of our manufacturing floor. This role is dedicated to keeping our facility and our multi-million-dollar CNC machinery in optimal operating condition. When a machine goes down, production stops—and you are the one we rely on to get it safely running again. From executing rigorous preventative maintenance schedules to diagnosing complex electromechanical faults, you will ensure our production teams never miss a beat. If you love working with your hands, solving complex mechanical puzzles, and keeping a high-tech aerospace facility humming, we want you on our team.
Duties and Responsibilities
Preventative Maintenance (PM): Execute daily, weekly, and monthly PM schedules on advanced CNC mills, lathes, and facility equipment. You will check fluid levels, replace worn belts, grease bearings, and swap filters to prevent catastrophic machine failures.
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Respond rapidly to downed equipment on the shop floor. You will diagnose root causes of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic failures, utilizing diagnostic tools to isolate the problem efficiently.
Equipment Repair: Perform skilled, hands-on repairs. Depending on your experience level, tasks will range from replacing basic sensors and repairing leaky air lines to rebuilding spindles, replacing ball screws, and tracing complex PLC faults.
Facility Operations: Support general facility upkeep, including maintaining industrial air compressors, HVAC units, lighting, and plumbing systems that support the overall manufacturing environment.
Documentation & CMMS: Log all maintenance activities accurately. You will use our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to close out work orders, record parts used, and document the specific repairs made to build a history of machine health.
Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to all OSHA and facility safety protocols, including comprehensive Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, before ever placing your hands inside a machine.Requirements:
Legal: Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug screening.
ITAR: Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum (due to ITAR requirements regarding facility access).
Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is required. A degree or certificate from a technical/trade school in Industrial Maintenance, Machining, or Electromechanical Technology is highly preferred.
Experience: 2 to 6 years of hands-on experience in industrial maintenance, equipment repair, or automotive mechanics. (Candidates will be leveled internally based on their demonstrated proficiency with advanced electrical and mechanical troubleshooting).
Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret machine manuals, mechanical blueprints, and electrical/pneumatic schematics. Must be proficient in the use of standard hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment (multimeters).
Soft Skills: A strong sense of urgency, high mechanical aptitude, and a team-first mindset. You must be able to communicate effectively with machine operators to understand how the machine broke before you start taking it apart.
Physical Demands: Must be able to constantly stand, walk, kneel, crawl, and bend to access tight spaces within heavy machinery.
Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50lbs safely. Will require constant manual dexterity and physical stamina throughout the shift.
