The Maryland Food Bank (MFB) is a nonprofit hunger-relief organization dedicated to feeding people, strengthening communities, and ending hunger for more Marylanders by partnering with local organizations from the western mountains to the Eastern Shore. The food bank's statewide network of food assistance brings enough resources together to provide nearly 114,000 meals every day (more than 41 million meals annually) to hungry children, seniors, veterans, and hard-working families, meeting the immediate needs of hungry Marylanders while simultaneously working to create pathways out of hunger.

About the position:

The Director, Regional Program (RPD) leads MFB's food access strategy across the Eastern region, working through a network of distribution partners in Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne's, Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico, and Worcester counties. This role leverages both qualitative insights and quantitative data to assess regional strengths, gaps, and disparities, while centering community voice to inform inclusive, culturally responsive solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

Develops and implements regional strategies to improve food access, providing grants and resources to support neighbor-centered distribution models and build partner capacity.

Presents regional plans, priorities, and outcomes internally and externally, including contributing to grant requests, reports, partner events, and media efforts.

Continuously seeks opportunities to innovate and improve programs to better support partners and advance food security across Maryland.

Manages partner relationships, including site visits, compliance, onboarding new partners, and responding to inquiries.

Provides leadership and coaching to direct reports, ensuring alignment with organizational values, priorities, and regional goals.

Supports or leads special projects and collaborates cross-functionally to address challenges and strengthen organizational sustainability.

Basic Qualifications:

At least five (5) years of relevant experience in program/project management or strategic planning, including three (3) years of people management (or equivalent).

Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Experience using data (qualitative and quantitative) to inform decisions.

Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion.

Ability to travel regularly within Maryland

Valid driver's license with an MVR showing no prior DUI/DWI and fewer than 2 points

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (including non-traditional paths and lived experience).

Personal connection to the Eastern Shore region and/or alignment with MFB's mission.

Experience facilitating conversations around race, class, and equity.

Experience in change management, community development, or leading program improvements

Supervisory Responsibility:

The RPD will directly supervise one regional Coordinator or Specialist.

Work Environment:

This is a hybrid role, requiring on-site presence at least three (3) days per week.

Flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends, and travel to events, partner sites, and other MFB locations.

This position operates primarily in an office environment with occasional movement around the warehouse.

Hiring range:

$75,000 - $80,000 / Annually

The Community Programs team at MFB is focused on working with and through our statewide distribution partners to build capacity and develop community-based solutions to the problem of food insecurity. We are looking for a new addition to our team who is dedicated to the mission of ending hunger for Marylanders and is interested in supporting the necessary work of the food bank. A successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, able to plan and manage multiple projects, and have demonstrated experience in relationship building and problem-solving.
