Description:
The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery and equipment used in the production of custom wood furniture. This role ensures all equipment operates efficiently, safely, and with minimal downtime to support production goals and quality standards.
What You Will Do:
Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on woodworking machinery, including CNC machines, saws, sanders, planers, and finishing equipment
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues and implement timely solutions
Conduct preventative maintenance to reduce equipment downtime and extend machine life
Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and production interruptions
Install, align, and test new equipment and machinery as needed
Maintain maintenance logs, service records, and parts inventory
Collaborate with production teams to optimize machine performance and workflow
Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and company policies
Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency
Assist with facility maintenance as needed (compressed air systems, dust collection systems, etc.)
What You Will Need:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification preferred
2+ years of mechanical maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing or woodworking environment
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical components, hydraulics, and pneumatics
Experience with woodworking equipment and CNC machinery preferred
Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Basic computer skills for maintenance tracking systems
Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Strong time management and ability to prioritize tasks
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods
Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with dust, noise, and machinery
Work Environment:
Manufacturing/production facility specializing in custom wood furniture
Exposure to sawdust, adhesives, finishes, and industrial equipment
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required
