Job Summary
The Class A CDL Flatbed Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of underground construction materials, including ductile iron pipe, PVC pipe, fittings, and valves. This role involves both driving and hands-on material handling, including loading, unloading, and supporting customers on job sites. The position requires strong attention to safety, DOT compliance, and customer service while ensuring accurate and professional delivery of materials within regional routes (no overnight travel).
Job Responsibilities
Safely operate straight trucks, flatbed trucks, and semi-trailer combinations to deliver construction materials
Transport underground utility materials including pipe, fittings, and valves to customer job sites
Load and unload materials using sit-down forklifts and manual handling as needed
Secure all loads properly using straps and ensure compliance with weight and safety requirements
Assist customers with unloading materials at job sites when required
Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in accordance with DOT regulations
Ensure accurate delivery documentation, including obtaining customer signatures and verifying delivery tickets
Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding delivery status, issues, or delays
Pick up customer returns and verify materials for credit processing
Handle local pickups and ensure proper documentation is completed and returned
Maintain vehicle cleanliness, fuel levels, and report mechanical issues promptly
Assist in warehouse operations when needed
Ensure all deliveries are completed accurately, safely, and on schedule
Represent the company professionally while maintaining strong customer service standards
Job Requirements
Must be 21 years of age or older
Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required
Minimum of 1 year of experience operating Class A CDL vehicles
Must meet all DOT requirements, including self-certification for non-excepted interstate driving
Ability to operate flatbed and trailer equipment safely and efficiently
Experience using sit-down forklifts for loading and unloading preferred
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs regularly
Ability to secure loads and throw straps over tall materials (up to 10 feet)
Comfortable performing both driving and warehouse duties
Strong understanding of DOT safety regulations and compliance standards
Ability to use a tablet or digital device for delivery tracking and documentation
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work overtime as needed
Education
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Work Experience
Minimum 1 year of Class A CDL driving experience required
Experience in construction materials delivery or flatbed operations preferred
Experience working in warehouse or distribution environments a plus#ZR
