Position Overview
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will play a key role in supporting adults ages 18 and older with intellectual disabilities, autism, and/or mental health diagnoses. You will assist individuals with daily living activities, skill development, and community participation while fostering a safe and supportive environment. The ability to effectively navigate everyday challenges and behavioral situations is essential. This is more than a jobits an opportunity to make a lasting impact each day. Schedules are developed based on program needs.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with activities of daily living, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, and household tasks
Support individuals in building independent living skills and engaging in community activities
Monitor, document, and report progress, behaviors, and incidents in accordance with program guidelines
De-escalate crisis situations and remain calm during emergencies
Administer medications and follow prescribed healthcare plans
Promote and ensure the health, safety, and well-being of individuals served
Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and families/guardians
Work assigned overtime as needed to meet program requirements
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Experience in human services, caregiving, or a related field preferred (paid training provided for qualified candidates)
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation required
Ability to pass background checks and required clearances
Obtain DSP Certification (company paid) within six months of employment
