with
the
Director
of
Enterprise
Nursing
Quality, Patient Safety,
and Evidence-Based Practice (EBP), the Program Director, Nursing Evidence-Based Practice and Standards leads medical center wide efforts
across
all
inpatient
and
outpatient
settings
in
establishing
a
culture
of
evidence-based
professional
nursing
practice.
The Program
Director
provides
leadership
and
direction
to
all
levels
of
nurses
regarding
the
design,
implementation
and evaluation
of
evidence-based
professional
nursing
standards
of
practice and
EBP initiatives.
Position Summary
The
Program
Director,
Nursing
Evidence-Based
Practice
and
Standards
oversees
and
provides
direction
for
the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based nursing projects for the Health System and leads
and
oversees
the
review
and
creation
of
all
nursing
policies
and
procedures for
the
Medical
Center.
In
partnership
with internal and external customers, the Program Director works with individuals in a way that ensures that evidence-based
practice
is
understandable
and
measurable.
He/she
works
to
ensure
a
shared
sense
of
purpose
in creating
both
value
for the
customer
and
the
committed
involvement
of
nursing
staff
at
all
levels.
The
Program
Director
serves
as
a
leader
and mentor
both
in
the
department
and
throughout
OSUWMC.
The
Program
Director
demonstrates an
analytical
and intellectual
understanding
of
best practices
and their impact on
quality of
patient
care.
Program Director-level responsibilities include: maintain a professional presence throughout the health system, oversee and maintain evidence
-based standards of practice, collaborating and integrating services within the department
(nursing quality and nursing research) and with other departments; assist in maintaining a collaborative partnership with The Ohio State University College of Nursing
and Academic Practice Partnership work with nursing services to ensure the delivery of evidence-based practice across all levels of nursing personnel across the medical center; assess and improve evidence-based resources and service across the enterprise.

A leader of Nursing Initiatives
Responsible for development of goals, tactics, planning, execution and evaluation of goal achievement for evidence-based practice. Develops short, mid and long-term goals with plans to facilitate/guide goal achievement that arc consistent with the mission and values of the Medical Center. Involves key stakeholders in goal development, planning, execution and evaluation when possible. Revises plan based upon evaluation of progress toward goals. Assists other areas within department with goal development. planning, execution and evaluation.
Effectively communicates with patients, visitors, leadership, staff, department personnel, providers, peers and other Medical Center personnel. Demonstrates ability to lead group process and effective meetings. Represents nursing evidence-based practice in Health System committees, task forces, work groups, etc. Effective problem solving, negotiating, and conflict resolution skills. Promotes multidisciplinary teamwork.
Serves as role model, motivates, mentors, and inspires lenders, staff and department personnel; demonstrates flexibility and impartiality when dealing with others.
Participates in and assumes leadership role in Medical Center committees, task forces and special projects. Demonstrates dependability in meeting target dates for reports and project completion. Represents the Medical Center in professional and civic activities within the University, locally, across the state or nationally as requested. Remains up to date in current level of practice.
Develops, implements and evaluates programs with emphasis on improvement in outcomes, service, operations and cost.
Adheres to regulatory compliance standards (TJC, ODH,
etc.).
Provides oversight and direction for evidence-based nursing, policies, procedures, standards or care and
protocols.
Functions as a Leader/Consultant in EBP and standards of nursing practice across the medical center. Provides leadership and consultation in all aspects of nursing practice.
Facilitates an environment for professional nursing practice that supports scientific, scholarly
practice
Provides leadership and direct oversight for the development, review, and revision of nursing policies and procedures to guide clinical nurses in the delivery of safe, quality evidence-based care.
Manages and oversees the final preparation of approved
policies.
Assures the development and implementation of educational plans prior to posting of policies, procedures, standards of care and protocols.
Assures that nursing policies, procedures, and standards of practice are consistent with hospital and medical board policies and are in compliance with professional nursing and regulatory standards.
Oversees the operations of nursing policies within the PolicyTech
system.
Manages annual contracts regarding online reference manuals and
maintenance.
Provides leadership to Policy Committees regarding development, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based clinical practice and practice guidelines.
Collaborates with legal and risk on any litigation matters
Provides leadership and facilitates multidisciplinary collaboration and communication in development of standards of care and delivery of quality patient care.
Fosters collegial professional relationships within nursing and the multidisciplinary team to lead evidence-based patient care.
Provides oversight and direction for the educational programming to support evidence-based nursing practice initiatives across the medical center.
Establishes and leads initiatives to support the development and maintenance of a work environment and models of care that embrace evidence-based practice.
Maintain visibility as EBP leader and expert throughout the medical
center.
Oversees and guides the professional development of EBP mentors and nurses at all levels in the medical
center.
Maintains professional scholarly
activities.
Maintains collaboration with OSU College of Nursing
and Academic Practice Partnership.
Serves on
the OSUWMC DNP/DNE Student Project Approval Committee
Serve as a lead and mentor on various shared governance committees in collaboration with the Director of Professional Practice

Minimum Qualifications
For Hire:
Master's Degree in Clinical Field, DNP preferred. Clinical Licensure. Registered Nurse may be required in Oncology. 2 years of clinical experience required. 4-6 years of clinical experience preferred.
On going: Maintain appropriate license as applicable. Meet mandatory educational and health requirements. Demonstrate competence in essential job functions. Maintain knowledge related to evidence-based practice, patient care management, quality improvement. financial management, current policies, procedures and protocols. Demonstrates computer skills required to perform job functions.

Additional Information:
The Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Program Director provides organization-wide leadership to advance a scientific, scholarly nursing practice environment. This role is responsible for directing evidence-based practice initiatives, overseeing nursing policies and standards, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of inquiry and continuous improvement. The EBP Program Director collaborates with interdisciplinary leaders, staff, academic partners, and external stakeholders to improve patient outcomes, operational performance, and organizational value. This is a Monday - Friday 8 hour position.
