Job Description

The Audio/Visual Systems Support Technician provides a wide array of technical support to the client campus community. This position is the primary contact for the preparation and execution of A/V needs at events across campus. They also play an integral role in enabling teaching and learning through the support and installation of a vast array of technologies in classroom, meeting and other large-group spaces.

Reporting to the Manager of User Services, this position also often interfaces directly with client campus members in various administrative, academic and student life environments to provide direct support for a multitude of office technologies.

This individual must exhibit an exceptional commitment to customer service and be adaptable, self-directed, possess strong communication skills, and serve as a fully functioning member of the IT team.Responsibilities:

Plan, prepare, and execute support for major campus events

Provide support and guidance to campus members for minor campus events

Ensure technology is in proper working order, configured, and set up as needed

Ensure portable equipment setups are neat, tidy, and do not present tripping or other hazards to event participants and presenters

Represent CampusWorks in a professional manner through appropriate personal presentation and interactions with campus constituents

Exceptional knowledge of A/V systems, P/A systems, microphones, camera technologies, and video systems appropriate for individual event needs

Attention to detail to ensure event A/V needs are well communicated and expertly executed

Assist with support and design of A/V systems for classrooms, meeting spaces, event spaces, and athletics

Work as part of the User Services team to quickly respond to and solve classroom technology emergencies including computer, projection, sound, and related equipment to fully support the teaching and learning environment

Ability to read and design schematic diagrams and design drawings

Work as part of a larger team to design, update, and support campus classroom technology on a pre-determined replacement schedule

Interact with campus users in person, via email, over the phone, and via remote support tools to quickly identify and resolve problems with their technology

Serve as a consultant to advise users on best practices and maintaining their technology

Contribute to departmental knowledgebase

Provide a wide array of software support to include Microsoft and Mac OS, Microsoft Office, and various other software to support academic instruction and University operations

Assess, repair, and maintain networked printers and Multi-Function Copiers across campus

Provide quick response for repair, supplies, and involving vendor services as needed

Work alongside and mentor student technicians

Respond to unplanned circumstances that may interrupt services

Use critical thinking skills to quickly identify and respond to problems

Work as part of a team on various departmental working/project groups

Evening and weekend hours, as required

Undertake additional responsibilities as determined by CampusWorks managementQualifications & Requirements:

Associate's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and audio-video technology operation and support

Experience providing technical support across various technologies including Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android-based devices

Experience supporting A/V for high profile events that require high attention to detail and diligent planning and preparation

Satisfy university requirements for operating a university owned vehicle

Ability to lift and carry necessary equipment and utilize ladders to perform necessary tasks

Good organizational skills with keen attention to detail

Ability to mange multiple tasks and prioritize effectively

A strong focus on customer service

Ability to flex working schedule to accommodate event support needs

Ability to diagnose and replace hardware components in campus technologyPreferred Qualifications:

AVIXA CTS, CTS-I, or CTS-D Certification

Experience in design, installation, and integration of A/V technology into meeting, event, classroom, and athletic venue environments

Experience with audio visual control systems such as Crestron, Extron or AMX including installation, configuration, and programming. Extron experience is preferred

Extron programming certification

Experience providing technical support in higher education environment

Basic knowledge of wired and wireless networking technologies

Experience supporting general office technologies including desktop, laptop and mobile computing devices, printers and other associated peripherals

The estimated base salary range for this job is $23-$23.50/hour. The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that CampusWorks reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; required travel; and other business, contractual, and organizational needs.

This job is also eligible to participate in CampusWorks’ annual profit-sharing program, which reflects CampusWorks’ pay for performance philosophy. The job is also eligible to participate in CampusWorks’ generous benefit offerings, which include medical, dental and vision coverage, 401k retirement plan, and other health and wellness plans.

The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future.
