ABOUT THE WELLINGTON RESERVOIR COMPANY

We oversee Castle Mountain Recreation at Wellington Lake which provides year-round access for day use, camping, and special and large group events. Our facilities offer a wide variety of activities such as camping, fishing, swimming, canoeing,

kayaking, paddle boarding, mountain biking, and hiking. Winter activities include ice fishing, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. Wellington Lake is a privately-owned natural wilderness area. The 167-acre lake is managed as a trophy fishery with an emphasis on conservation. More detailed information about the facility may be found at

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a self-motivated, resourceful Facility Assistant Manager capable of handling day-to-day operations. These operations include assisting in the management and efficient, cost-effective operation of the office, employees, forest stewardship, and lake administration. The Facility Assistant Manager reports directly to the Facility Manager and advises the Facility Manager on all matters related to planning, development, administration, and operations during their shift. While not an all-inclusive list, tasks to be performed include:

General

· Assigns work schedules, training, and duties to office personnel, park rangers, and forestry personnel with the guidance of the Facility Manager.

· Ensures employees comply with rules and regulations in the Employee Handbook.

· Completes new hire packets and coordinates drug/alcohol testing.

· Manages timesheet submittals.

· Manages office, campground, and forestry supplies.

· Maintains the property, buildings, fences, picnic tables, snow removal, road grading, etc.

· Coordinates with Facility Manager to ensure compliance with project and budgetary requirements.

· Maintains CPR and first aid certifications.

· Operates, maintains, and performs simple repairs of all equipment.

· Works with standard office equipment and mechanized maintenance equipment (tractor, skidsteer, chain saw, chipper).

· Occasionally and as needed, working hours will consist of weekend shifts.

· Other duties as may be assigned.

Office/Recreation

· Balances and records daily transactions of cash registers and credit card machine.

· Coordinates walk-in and online reservations, and special and large group events.

· Schedules needed services for the facility.

· Complete and take cash deposits to the bank.

Forestry

· Ensures work is completed in accordance with the Forest Stewardship Plan.

· Maintains work records for submission to the Colorado State Forestry Program.

· Coordinates annual forestry inspection.

· Ensures tools and equipment are used in compliance with all safety requirements and practices.

Reservoir

· Manages reservoir headgate to control water inflows and releases per General Manager. Records daily water levels and other pertinent data.

· Provides oversight for construction of fish structures.

· Coordinates annual dam inspection.

Skills and Experience

· Professional and organizational skills.

· Good written and verbal communication skills.

· Working knowledge of computers and software applications (Microsoft Office products).

· Problem solving, knowledge of wilderness and campground operations, and natural resources principles.

· Understanding of rules, regulations, ordinances and statutes pertaining to wilderness areas and campgrounds.

· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures manuals, specifications, and agreements.

· Strong customer service skills along with the ability to work independently and on multiple tasks simultaneously.

· Ability to adapt to changing priorities, procedures, conditions, and circumstances.

· Supervise multiple employees working various jobs in an office setting and forest stewardship.

Minimum Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED.

· A valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications

· Supervisory and management experience of multiple employees.

· Experience working in the field, ability to work alone in varying field conditions.

· A minimum of two (2) years of experience in environmental or natural resources, wilderness areas, recreation, tourism, or related fields.

· Bachelor’s degree in natural resources, environmental sciences, water resources, recreation, tourism or related field.

· Relevant experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.

Working Conditions

· Moderate physical activity with the ability to lift items in excess of 50 pounds occasionally, and up to 20 pounds frequently.

· Position requires standing, walking, sitting, stooping/bending, lifting, climbing, repetitive motion, and the ability to climb a ladder 50 feet straight up.

· Frequently exposed to insects and occasionally to wildlife.

· Will be required to work in all weather conditions and in extreme temperatures.

Compensation

A corporate benefits package including vacation and holidays. This is an FLSA exempt position. Pay range is $20 to $25/hour. The pay range and health benefits for this position are negotiable depending on qualifications and experience of applicant. Hours can be quite flexible. This is intended to be a permanent, full-time position.
