HiFyve is hiring a Nuclear Facilities Engineer (Fire Protection Focus) in Los Alamos, NM.
Salary: $104K - $211K
Shift: 4x10 schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon)
Location: Onsite - Los Alamos, NM (Relocation package)
Position Overview:
This is a high-impact engineering role supporting critical facility infrastructure in a complex, highly regulated environment. You will serve as a subject matter expert in fire protection systems, working across multidisciplinary teams to design, maintain, and improve safety-critical systems that support mission-driven operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, analyze, and support fire protection systems (alarms, suppression, life safety, passive systems)
Lead and support system modifications, upgrades, and new installations
Perform engineering studies (arc flash, fault current, system coordination, equipment sizing)
Ensure compliance with NFPA, IBC, IFC, and other regulatory standards
Collaborate with engineering, operations, maintenance, and construction teams
Support commissioning, testing, and system turnover processes
(Senior level) Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and lead complex multi-discipline projects
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience with fire protection systems in industrial, commercial, or nuclear environments
Strong understanding of engineering design, system integration, and lifecycle support
Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (NFPA, IBC, IFC, etc.)
Experience with CAD and engineering analysis tools
Ability to manage multiple projects and communicate across teams
Strong technical judgment and problem-solving skills
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
3+ years (Engineer II) or 6+ years (Engineer III) experience
U.S. Citizenship required (clearance eligibility)
Ability to obtain high-level security clearance
