Salary: $20.00/hour with increase to $23.00/hour upon completion of training program.
About The Role:
The Quad Cities International Airport is looking for an eager applicant for a part time Communications Operator. The Communications Operator is responsible for providing communication and clerical support services to the 24-hour Airport Police and Fire Department. This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management deems necessary. Working up to 20 hours monthly, with more hours during the initialtraining period.

Key Requirements:
Ability to pass a physical examination, drug screen, and back function test.
Ability to pass a background investigation to obtain unescorted airport identification/access privileges.
Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or GED.
One year of airport or airline experience preferred.
Knowledge of computers, word processing and related software.
Ability to think clearly and act quickly and calmly in emergency situations.
Ability to multi-task, coordinating simultaneous mental, manual and visual activities.
Ability to communicate using two-way radio and multi-line telephone system.
Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
Ability to effectively work and communicate with co-workers and the general public.
Ability to learn the layout of the airport and surrounding areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Receives and responds to emergency and non-emergency calls, via telephone or radio, for police, fire, medical, security and other airport operations.
Processes and evaluates information received, prioritizes calls and dispatches required personnel.
Monitors and coordinates Public Safety Department's activity and assignments via radio frequencies.
Answers questions and provides information to the public over the telephone.
Monitors and operates access control system to include computer entries, closed circuit television and other various other electronic components.
Creates and maintains accurate automated or manual logs of public safety communications activity.
Monitors weather conditions, working closely with Airfield Maintenance Department regarding the proper distribution of NOTAMS and other weather data.
Operates a variety of computer, electronic access, surveillance and other equipment.
Maintains appropriate security and confidentiality of information created or encountered in the performance of assigned duties.
Keeps informed of all departmental policies and security/emergency procedures.
Develops knowledge of the airport layout and surrounding areas.
Follows and complies with all safety and work rules and regulations.
