Location: Juno Beach, FL

Duration: 12 Months Contract

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Principal Data Scientist to lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced forecasting models for Load, Solar, and Wind generation. This role is critical to supporting real-time decision-making across Energy Management, Power Marketing, and System Operations.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in time-series forecasting, machine learning, and cloud-based production deployment, along with a strong ability to translate complex datasets into actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

Model Development & Deployment

• Lead end-to-end development of forecasting models from research through production deployment

• Build scalable models for load, solar, and wind forecasting using advanced statistical and ML techniques

• Implement automated retraining, evaluation, and monitoring frameworks

• Ensure high model performance aligned with operational accuracy standards

Data Engineering & Integration

• Integrate weather APIs and external data sources into forecasting pipelines

• Design and develop robust, scalable data pipelines for real-time and batch processing

• Optimize data workflows for performance and reliability

Cloud & Infrastructure

• Deploy and manage models using AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, SageMaker)

• Implement Infrastructure-as-Code and best practices for CI/CD

• Ensure system reliability with proper logging, alerting, and recovery mechanisms

Visualization & Stakeholder Communication

• Build interactive dashboards using Streamlit, Plotly, or similar tools

• Present forecasting insights and model outputs to business stakeholders

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including trading, operations, and engineering

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Data Science or related field

• Advanced proficiency in Python (pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, statsmodels)

• Strong experience in time-series forecasting (ARIMA, SARIMAX, Gradient Boosting, etc.)

• Proven track record of deploying models into production environments

• Experience integrating APIs (especially weather data) into pipelines

• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services

• Strong SQL skills with experience handling large datasets

• Experience building dashboards (Streamlit, Plotly, etc.)

• Solid understanding of model evaluation metrics (MAE, RMSE, MAPE)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in energy markets or renewable generation forecasting

• Knowledge of probabilistic forecasting and uncertainty modeling

• Strong feature engineering skills using weather and domain-specific variables

• Experience working in Agile environments (Jira, Confluence)
