Job Description
Inside Sales Representative — SymmetricDS
Jumpmind, LLC. Columbus, Ohio On-Site
About Jumpmind and SymmetricDS
Jumpmind is an enterprise software company with a clear mission: build software that is creative, elegant, and easy to use. Since 2007, we have been helping enterprises solve some of their most complex data challenges — and SymmetricDS is one of our core products.
SymmetricDS is the leading solution for enterprise data replication, change data capture (CDC), and data transformation across databases and file systems. It scales to thousands of connected systems, operates in near real time, and supports virtually every major database platform — from Oracle and SQL Server to Snowflake, MongoDB, and Kafka. Our customers rely on SymmetricDS to synchronize and consolidate mission-critical data across distributed environments, keep operational and reporting databases in sync, protect critical applications with continuous database backup, and move data seamlessly between cloud, on-premise, Docker, and Kubernetes environments.
We are growing. And we are looking for a driven, intellectually curious Inside Sales Representative to join our team in Columbus, Ohio and help us bring SymmetricDS to more enterprises around the world.
The Opportunity
This is a full-cycle inside sales role. You will own the entire revenue motion for SymmetricDS — from prospecting and qualification through demonstration, proposal, negotiation, and close. You will manage your own pipeline, carry your own quota, and be accountable for delivering new ARR growth within your assigned territory or segment.
This is not a lead-passing role. You will be the primary commercial relationship for your prospects and customers, supported by our technical team for complex product questions and proof-of-concept engagements.
If you are a sales professional who is energized by technical products, comfortable selling to both technical and business buyers, and motivated by the challenge of building something — this role is for you.
What You Will Do
Pipeline Development
Prospect, research, and engage target accounts through outbound outreach including cold calling, email sequencing, LinkedIn, and referrals
Qualify inbound leads and convert them into active sales opportunities
Build and maintain a healthy pipeline at 3x or greater coverage against quarterly quota
Identify the right buyer personas within target accounts — typically database administrators, IT directors, data engineers, and VP/C-level technology leaders
Sales Execution
Run a disciplined, consultative sales process from first contact through signed contract
Conduct discovery calls to understand prospect data architecture, pain points, and business objectives
Deliver compelling product demonstrations that map SymmetricDS capabilities to specific customer use cases — replication, CDC, data migration, database backup, and workload distribution
Build business cases that quantify the value of SymmetricDS relative to the cost and risk of the customer's current state
Manage proposals, negotiate commercial terms, and close deals within your assigned quota
Own the renewal motion for your customer base — proactively engage customers ahead of contract expiration, confirm ongoing value realization, resolve any open issues, and secure timely renewals to protect and grow recurring revenue
Customer and Market Intelligence
Maintain accurate, up-to-date opportunity records in CRM at all times
Capture and share competitive intelligence, objection themes, and win/loss insights with product and marketing leadership
Develop a working understanding of the competitive landscape including alternative replication tools, ETL platforms, and native database replication solutions
Collaboration
Partner with Jumpmind's technical support and engineering teams to support proof-of-concept evaluations and resolve complex technical questions during the sales cycle
Collaborate with marketing on campaign follow-up, content feedback, and ICP refinement
Represent Jumpmind professionally and accurately in every customer interaction
What We Are Looking For
Experience
2–4 years of inside sales experience, preferably in B2B software or technology
Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding quota in a full-cycle or closing role
Experience selling to technical buyers (database administrators, IT directors, data engineers, or similar) is a strong advantage
Familiarity with data integration, database technologies, or enterprise infrastructure software is a plus — not a requirement
Skills and Attributes
Strong discovery and qualification skills — you ask great questions and listen before you pitch
Comfortable running product demonstrations and translating technical capability into business value
Disciplined pipeline management habits — you know your numbers and manage your forecast accurately
Excellent written and verbal communication — clear, concise, and professional
Intellectually curious — you enjoy learning complex products and genuinely want to understand how your customers' data environments work
Coachable and self-motivated — you seek feedback, apply it, and hold yourself accountable
Organized and detail-oriented — you maintain clean CRM records and follow through on commitments
Characteristics of Top Performers in This Role
You are energized by a technical sale, not intimidated by it
You take ownership of your pipeline and your results — you do not wait for leads to come to you
You are a problem-solver who approaches objections as information, not obstacles
You build credibility with technical buyers by learning their language and respecting their expertise
You thrive in a growth-stage environment where processes are still being built and your contributions directly shape the team
What Success Looks Like
In your first 30 days, you will complete Jumpmind's onboarding and certification program, develop a working understanding of SymmetricDS and its core use cases, and begin building your pipeline through outbound prospecting and inbound follow-up.
By 90 days, you will be running your full sales process independently — qualifying, demonstrating, and progressing opportunities toward close — with a pipeline at or above coverage targets.
By 6 months, you will be tracking toward quota attainment and contributing market intelligence that helps sharpen our ICP, messaging, and competitive positioning.
Compensation and Benefits
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience
Uncapped variable compensation tied to quota attainment
Health, dental, and vision benefits
Paid time off and company holidays
