Site Manager - Structural Steel Erection (Traveling Role)
Overview:
We are seeking a Traveling Site Manager to join a large, privately owned structural steel fabricator and erector. This is a hands-on field leadership role responsible for overseeing operations on major projects including data centers, stadiums, and other large, complex structures across the country. You’ll play a key role in coordinating field activities, ensuring project success, and serving as the on-site leader.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, erectors, and field teams
Lead site coordination including scheduling, deliveries, and subcontractor management
Partner closely with the Project Manager to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, and execution
Track and manage steel deliveries in coordination with the shipping department
Maintain daily reports and monitor overall project progress
Document and track field issues including fabrication errors, detailing discrepancies, and erection challenges (FCNs)
Coordinate issue resolution with internal teams and external partners
Track design changes, revised drawings, and associated change orders
Lead site meetings and maintain clear communication across all stakeholders
Ensure compliance with safety standards and jobsite protocols
Willingness to travel nationwide for extended durations (relocation as needed)
Ability to work overtime and weekends based on project demands Qualifications:
6+ years of experience in structural steel fabrication and/or erection
Strong knowledge of AISC standards and OSHA regulations
Experience managing field operations on large-scale construction projects
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and adaptable to new systems/software Benefits:
