Now interviewing for an Operations Leader/Manufacturing Manager for our plant in Zanesville, OH. This is a direct stepping stone to become the Plant Manager in 1-2 years. Salary to $130k depending on experience and education. This position is located in Zanesville, OH.
Summary of Operations Leader/Manufacturing Manager opportunity:
We are seeking an Operations Leader/Manufacturing Manager to join our team. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the Melt Shop, Process Support and Roaster including but not limited to maintaining a safe working environment, maintaining environmental compliance, driving and optimizing production results, adhering to and improving quality procedures, talent management, and fostering a culture of employee engagement. The Operations Leader establishes department goals and provides direction, guidance, and development opportunities for Supervisors and employees. This position reports to the Plant Manager.
Operations Leader/Manufacturing Manager Responsibilities and Duties
Lead by example and set expectations for compliance with all internal and external safety and environmental regulations, policies, procedures, and systems; promote a culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and employee engagement
Foster a positive, respectful work environment that is aligned with the Company's Values; set expectations for compliance with the Code of Business Conduct and all other Company policies and procedures
Work closely with Plant Safety and Environmental Management to ensure that the highest standards of safety and environmental safeguards are developed and maintained; ensure grounds, buildings, equipment, machines, processes, service and repairs are consistent with relevant OSHA and EPA regulations, industry codes and/or standards; ensure required tests, evaluations, and assessments are performed on schedule and immediately address any deficiencies
Establish production schedules and labor requirements to achieve required production goals and objectives
Review and analyze production volume, cost, quality, equipment maintenance, and labor utilization to drive and optimize Melt Shop, Process Support and Roaster production results
Identify and resolve non-conformances, implement corrective actions, and report issues of concern to the Plant Manager
Develop, track, and report critical KPI’s on established reporting schedule; drive results to achieve Company financial goals
Lead Operations Leads and Supervisors; develop and audit performance expectations; coach for improved performance; document any corrective actions and ensure compliance with training and development plans
Create and foster positive employee relations with employees and other operational staff
Investigate employee issues and address consistently with guidance from Plant Manager and Human Resources
Identify and evaluate continuous improvement opportunities at the Roaster and Melt Shop; engage front-line employees in continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives in the Melt Shop and Roaster
Work collaboratively with operations leadership, engineering, and purchasing to identify, develop and execute capital projects; engage in evaluation of critical suppliers
Utilize Lean principles to optimize processes, systems, people, and equipment
Qualifications/Skills/Requirements
BS degree in Metallurgical Engineering or mechanical/industrial related field of study preferred
7-10 years’ experience in operational leadership in manufacturing environment required; melt shop, foundry, steel or other relevant industry experience preferred
Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills (verbal and written) required
Team player with demonstrated ability to foster employee engagement
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles required; demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement
Strong mechanical aptitude, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills
Ability to adapt easily to change and lead others through it
Excellent attention to detail, time management, organization and follow through skills
Ability to work flexible hours as required
Possess a thorough understanding of relevant industry codes, OSHA and EPA regulations
