SUMMARY:
Administers the business affairs of the District in such a way as to provide the best possible education services with the financial resources available.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises the management of the financial activities of the District according to state laws and regulations and ensures that all financial reports are filed in a timely manner and in an acceptable format
Supervises the management of the accounting policies, procedures and activities of the District according to state laws, regulations and attorney general opinions
Supervises the business office section managers in accounts payable, payroll, purchasing, student activities and accounting/finance
Creates a cohesive team environment and develops open communication between the business office, the community, all principals, and directors
Spearheads the District’s Budget Committee made up of principals, directors, a teacher representative, a classified staff representative, and a board member to develop the next year's district, school and department budgets
Creates the difference district fund budgets according to state and federal funding laws and then allocates the monies to different budget categories, through District-wide communities
Supervises the management of all district budgets to ensure that specific funds are not overspent and that all applicable laws are followed for legality of specific expenditures
Coordinates all district elections for building construction, overrides and bond building projects
Manages the District's liability insurance program and assists the Personnel Director with the selection of the health insurance carrier and program benefits
Assists the Superintendent in the management and acquisition of the District's real estate leases
Supervises the District's "Asbestos Management and Abatement" program
Manages the District's building expansion and renovation programs as prioritized by district committees and approved by the District's Governing Board
Pursues the development and passage of legislation at the State and Federal levels that are favorable to the District.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form
Ability to research inquiries by community and staff
Ability to deal with situations involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community
Ability to maintain confidentiality with regards to people or events that occur on campus
Ability to speak, read and write English fluently. Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents
Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to present information.
Ability to perform duties and prepare reports with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
S. or B.A. Degree or equivalent years of service
Minimum of two (2) years of administrative experience
Knowledge of budgeting and finance laws at the County, State and Federal levels
Computer Proficiency: Word standard, Excel standard and Outlook standard
