Tiello has partnered with a well-established Multifamily General Contractor on their search for an Assistant Superintendent in Columbus, Ohio. This organization supports a diverse portfolio of new construction multifamily projects.
Role Summary:
The Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent in overseeing daily construction site operations. This role is hands-on and field-focused, involving coordination of punch list work, service and warranty items, general construction tasks, site maintenance, and manual labor as needed to keep projects moving efficiently and safely. The position requires strong construction knowledge, organization, and the ability to work directly in the field alongside crews.

Job Responsibilities:
Field Coordination & Support:
Assist the Superintendent in overseeing daily on site operations and coordinating work activities.
Support field crews by ensuring they have the necessary information, equipment, and materials to complete their tasks.
Monitor work progress and report updates, issues, or delays to project leadership.
Help maintain adherence to project schedules and sequencing of work.
Safety & Quality Oversight:
Promote and support a culture of safety, ensuring all field personnel follow company and project safety protocols.
Assist with daily safety checks, toolbox talks, and jobsite inspections.
Help verify work meets company standards and project specifications.
Identify potential hazards or quality issues and communicate them promptly.
Subcontractor & Crew Coordination:
Support the Superintendent in coordinating subcontractor activities and ensuring clear communication across teams.
Assist in verifying that subcontractor work aligns with project expectations, scope, and timelines.
Help address questions, resolve minor issues, and maintain a positive working environment.
Documentation & Reporting:
Assist with maintaining daily logs, reports, attendance records, and documentation required for project tracking.
Help record material deliveries, equipment usage, and field quantities as needed.
Support communication between field operations, project management, and office staff.
Site Logistics & Planning:
Help manage site logistics, including equipment placement, material staging, and general site organization.
Support planning activities by communicating resource needs and helping prepare for upcoming work phases.
Coordinate with warehouse and equipment teams when project needs arise.
Qualifications / Requirements:
At least 3 years of experience in commercial or residential construction is preferred
Strong understanding of construction methods and sequencing
Experience with punch list and service/warranty work
Ability to read and interpret basic construction drawings
Proficient with common hand and power tools
Strong work ethic and willingness to perform manual labor
Good communication and teamwork skills
Ability to follow direction and take initiative in the field
