Position: Software Developer (Python/ROS2)

Contract Length: 6 months+

Location: North Hollywood, CA

Blue Origin is a leader in space technology, committed to enabling millions to live and work in space. We are seeking a Software Developer (Python/ROS2) to support advanced systems that bridge software development and hardware integration in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Software Developer (Python/ROS2) Responsibilities

Develop, provision, and validate Python/ROS2-based systems using COTS hardware

Design and maintain device drivers to ensure optimal system performance

Improve provisioning workflows through automation and scripting

Perform software checkout, troubleshooting, and debugging on testbeds and hardware

Drive system reliability and performance enhancements across integrated platforms

Software Developer (Python/ROS2) Qualifications

Required:

Strong proficiency in C/C++ (embedded, RTOS, Linux) and Python (automation/tools)

Hands-on experience with ROS/ROS2 and Git-based collaborative workflows

Demonstrated debugging and troubleshooting across software and hardware systems

Experience with scripting, automation, and instrumentation or data acquisition systems

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced engineering environment

Preferred:

Experience with Ansible, Bash, or similar automation tools

Background in hardware/software integration and embedded systems

Familiarity with EtherCAT, motor drivers, or control systems
