A Sheet Metal Operator lays out, fabricates, constructs, and inspects all types of complex experimental, developmental and production sheet metal parts, complex weldments, and assemblies.

*Starting Wage: $31.74* plus shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts.

*1st Shift – 6:00AM – 2:30PM

*2nd Shift - 2:30pm - 10:30pm

*3rd Shift – 10:30PM – 7:00AM

*Must pass Technical Interview*

What you will do:

Performs general maintenance and housekeeping of workplace, tools and equipment.

Maintains records, moves materials and follows safety rules in performance of duties.

Utilizes precision measuring equipment to perform non-FAIR inspections on parts and assemblies

Performs other similar duties as required or directed.

Works from oral and written instructions, engineering sketches, prints, video and computer instructions.

Set-up, lays out, fabricates, constructs and assembles a wide range of complex experimental, developmental and production sheet metal parts having complicated bends, many interrelated holes and close angular tolerances.

Calculates complex angles, lengths, bends and odd-shaped parts using geometry, trigonometry and shop mathematics. Also, calculates weld shrinkage.

Sets up and operates all machines and equipment listed above and improvises any tooling, fixtures and templates as required to fabricate assigned work.

Performs intricate bench work such as filing, grinding and buffing in order to fit parts and obtain desired finish.

Performs all rework to sheet metal units received from vendors and others.

Interfaces with support personnel, such as work teams, fabrication and manufacturing engineers, NC programmers and quality control personnel to address and solve problems associated with their field of expertise.

Advances or retrieves product, material and tooling for self and others.

Machines, Tools, and Equipment used, includes but not limited to: Utilizes CNC and manually controlled equipment, sheet metal machinery such as manual and power-operated shears and brakes, punch presses, dies, arbor presses, drilling and tapping equipment, notchers, saws, sanders, grinders and buffing equipment, rivet-setting equipment, spotwelders, soldering equipment, vises, drills, reamers, counterbores, countersinks, fly cutters, rivet sets, punches and sheet metal hand tools, annealing and stress-relieving equipment, all hardware installation tools / equipment, precision inspection measuring equipment including CMM’s and other equipment common to the trade.

Qualifications You Must Have:

High school diploma or equivalent

Over 1 year and up to 2 years trades training in sheet metal work

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in sheet metal fabrication
